March 20, 2024, Shanghai - DAS Solar has joined the SEMI SCC & ECOPV alliance at the SCC Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development Summit Forum, hosted by SEMI, in Shanghai. This forum aims to deeply discuss reducing carbon emissions in the semiconductor supply chain, achieving net-zero carbon emissions solutions, and leading the industry towards a green future.
During the meeting, Dr. Song Dengyuan, CTO of DAS Solar and Chairman of the SEMI Standards PV and PV Materials China Joint Technical Committee Chapter, chaired the forum. As the initiating entity, DAS Solar joined the SEMI SCC and ECOPV alliance along with 18 members.
The SEMI SCC & ECOPV alliance will leverage the semiconductor industry's experience and low-carbon standards system to form a strong partnership that promotes green industry development. It will focus on creating international standards for photovoltaic industry carbon neutrality and sustainable development, establish quantification methods and evaluation systems aligned with international standards for photovoltaic manufacturing carbon emissions, share carbon reduction experiences amongst member units, foster new productivity to achieve decarbonization and recyclability of products.
Since its establishment, DAS Solar has actively practiced the ESG development, integrating sustainable development with our social responsibilities. In addition to efficient N-type module research and development, comprehensive supply chain material control, full-cycle manufacturing, and logistics and warehousing, DAS Solar has developed rigorous and comprehensive green and low-carbon management models across multiple areas of the company.
Simultaneously, through the installation of modules on top of factories with high energy consumption, DAS Solar provides clean energy to power intelligent manufacturing, thereby improving energy utilization efficiency and reducing total energy consumption. The company has successively obtained certifications such as the Achilles Platform, ECS Footprint, and Italy's EPD, and has been awarded PV Tech's Best ESG Performing Company and Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise in 2023.
As a leading N-type technology and full scenarios application solutions provider, through the development and application of advanced technologies, DAS Solar continues to increase its investments in research and development. In addition, the company is committed to promoting green development throughout the entire lifecycle of photovoltaic components, with the aim of achieving a greener lifecycle from production to retirement. Research and development investments will need to be increased in green recycling technologies for components and key equipment. DAS Solar has consistently advanced on the path to recyclable, green, and low-carbon development in recent years, joining China's Climate Action initiative and the United Nations Global Compact. As of November 2023, the company has saved approximately 7.18 million tons of standard coal per year, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 37 million tons. DAS Solar is taking concrete measures to address the challenges of global climate change.
